Bethel

When you reach Route 107, follow that southwestward into Bethel. Here, you can visit Rathdowney Herbs, which sells everything from herbs to coffees. Also in Bethel is the White River National Fish Hatchery, with a visitors room inside and large holding pools filled with trout and salmon outside.

Pittsfield

Soon, Route 107 intersects with Route 100, which you should follow to the south, traveling through Pittsfield with its rectangular green surrounded by homes painted white, as so many of the older homes are in New England. You will also pass the Giorgetti Covered Bridge, lovingly built by John Giorgetti in 1976 using material from an old barn. Much of the land around Route 100 is forested and there is good hiking at Gifford Woods State Park, just before the intersection with Route 4. Killington and Pico ski areas are also near this intersection. Killington operates a chairlift during foliage season for spectacular views and Pico has an alpine slide and scenic chairlift.
